Feed in Tarriff

Clean Energy Cashback Scheme also known as The Feed-in-Tariff scheme (FITs) is an environmental programme which has been introduced in the UK by the government on the 1stApril 2010, under powers in the Energy Act 2008.The main purpose is to support small-scale renewable and low-carbon electricity generation technologies. How-Feed-in-Tariffs-work
The Feed-in tariff can generate income in the following 3 ways:1. You get paid for all the energy that you generate whether you use it all or not. (Generation Tariff)2. You get an additional payment for any energy that is not consumed by you and sold back to the grid (Export tariff)3. You save money as sunlight is free, so once you’ve paid for the initial installation your electricity costs will be greatly reduced. A typical home PV system can produce around 40% of the electricity a household uses in a year. Important information:-          The scheme is available up to 5MW installed capacity. In order to receive FIT payments you will need to appoint a FIT Supplier who will pay you the FIT Generation tariff for your total generation as well as a tariff for any export to the Grid.-          The system has to be installed by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)certified installers under the FIT legislation or under ROOFIT accreditation with Ofgem where applicable.-          Since April 2012 to be eligible for standard FITs, the building to which the installation is attached needs to meet a certain level of energy efficiency as for example the building will have to achieve an “Energy Performance Certificate” rating of C or above. If the FIT generator is not able to demonstrate this, then the installation will be eligible for a lower tariff of 9p per kWh.
